The movie was made for the 2009 48 Hour Film Project International Shootout. The Bubblegum Detective Agency represented Fargo, North Dakota in the contest, and was one of forty participating teams from around the world. The majority of the shooting took place on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at St. John the Divine church in Moorhead, Minnesota. Additional material was shot at the residence of Brad Delzer, on the campus of Concordia College, and outside the Great Northern train depot in downtown Fargo that is now the home of Island Park Cycles.
