Rusty Casselton

Harold "Rusty" Casselton (born May 8, 1954, died December 30, 2007) was a film professor, historian, and collector as well as a student, teaching assistant, long-time friend and business partner of Ted Larson. Casselton taught for 22 years at Concordia College before becoming Director of Film Studies at Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2001, following Larson's unexpected death. He was an internationally known and respected restorer of rare and silent films.

A special memorial celebration of Casselton's life and work was held on January 31, 2008 in the Glasrud Auditorium at Weld Hall on the campus of MSUM. Personal tributes to Rusty were shared by students, friends, and colleagues for more than an hour and fifteen minutes before a special showing of Charlie Chaplin's The Kid (1921) and the Academy Award-nominated animated short subject Peace on Earth (1939), two of Rusty's favorite movies.
