[edit] Plot Summary
According to the movie's Facebook page, Pinching Penny is about Alex Sommers, a British man who was forced to grow up in rural North Dakota for most of his life. Alex becomes addicted to consumerism, but is not willing to get a job in order to make the money to support his preferred standard of living. As a result, he and his best friend Murphy go about trying everything and anything to scrape money together in any way that they can. Alex's obession leads them first to robbery, then to kidnapping, and finally to the underbelly of this quaint society... where the two friends' lives fall quickly into the absurd and Alex continues to spend himself deeper and deeper into depravity.
