Merrie Sue Holtan

Merrie Sue Holtan (b. ?) is an instructor in Communication Studies at Minnesota State University Moorhead and the managing editor of Open Magazine. She is also a writer and editor whose works include the biography Power and Stride: The Nancy Burggraf Story (2004) and, as editor, Y Winners: Cookbook of Champions (1992).
Holtan holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota in Speech Communication and English, a master's degree in speech communication from NDSU and an MFA in Creative Writing from MSUM.
Since 1981, Merrie Sue has been a freelance writer with over 300 published articles and has received writing awards on state and national levels. She also has produced three other short documentaries and is working on a memoir called Just Girls about growing up in southeastern Minnesota. She also leads writing workshops on "Writing Your Spiritual Journey."
Merrie Sue is married to Rev. Phil Holtan and they have three children.
