Matt Olien

Matt Olien (b. Sept. 30, 1964) is a producer, on-air host/interviewer and documentary filmmaker at Prairie Public Television.

Olien is also the regular co-chair of the Fargo Film Festival, teaches film production coursework at Minnesota State University Moorhead, and teaches at the Fargo Theatre Summer Film Institute. Olien frequently contributes movie reviews to Prairie Public Radio 91.9 FM, and is an expert on the history of the Academy Awards as well as the films of directors Alfred Hitchcock and David Lean and actor Marlon Brando.

Olien was a news reporter (1989-1998) at KXJB Television in Fargo, and served on the Fargo Theatre Board of Directors from 2002 through 2008. He has served on the Fargo Film Festival Committee since its inception in 2001, and has served as it's Co-Chair from 2005 through 2009. Matt is married to Desira Olien, and they have one son, Nicholas, born June 1, 2001, and one daughter, Chloe, born May 28, 2008.
