Jennifer Proctor

Jennifer Proctor (b. ?) is a moviemaker. She is the former Managing Director of the Cinematexas Short Film Festival and Austin Cinemaker Co-op. Originally hailing from San Rafael, California, she moved to Austin in 1994 to study Radio-Television-Film and Philosophy at the University of Texas.

After graduating, she worked for KUT Radio, Austin’s NPR station, and in 2003 decided to pursue her true love of filmmaking at the University of Iowa. Her work has shown at Aurora Picture Show, Portland Documentary & Experimental Film Fest, MadCat Film Festival, NextFrame, Basement Films, Mini-Cine, Splice This!, FLEXFest, SF Cinematheque, Cinematexas, Ms. Films, Dallas Video Fest, Iowa City Documentary Film Festival, and others.

She holds an MA in Film Studies and an MFA in Film and Video Production from the University of Iowa. She is currently a visiting assistant professor in the Film and Video program at Grand Valley State University.

Proctor takes part in the evolving movement of personal videoblogging while also using her vlog to explore her film practice. Proctor also edits Lost in Light, her videoblog devoted to the preservation of small-gauge film, co-founded with Aaron Valdez. In addition to showcasing Super 8 and 8mm film in all its forms, Lost in Light offers free video transfers for home movies and other ephemeral films.
