Greg Carlson

Greg Carlson (b. 1972) is a Fargo, North Dakota-based teacher, moviemaker, and critic. He is the Associate Film Editor of the High Plains Reader and teaches film studies and media production at Concordia College, Moorhead, where he serves the Communication Studies and Theatre Art department as the Director of Media Activities. He has also taught film studies and mass media courses at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He has taught video production courses at Trollwood Performing Arts School since 1997, where he created Trollwood News at Noon and 3600 Seconds.

Carlson originated and produces the 2-Minute Movie Contest at the Fargo Film Festival and is the founder and administrator of the Fargo Filmmaking Wiki, which first went online July 14, 2006.

While working at Moorhead Community Access Television, Carlson created and produced A Leash Called Love, which, at 174 half-hour episodes, still holds the record for the longest running non-religious program in the history of Fargo-Moorhead public access TV. Carlson is actively involved with many aspects of Fargo-Moorhead film culture, and often appears in amateur movies directed by himself and others.

As an undergraduate at Minnesota State University Moorhead, then known as Moorhead State University, Carlson was a teaching and office assistant for Ted Larson. Carlson formed his production banner Southpawfilmworks in 1991. He is married to Katie Smith and they have a son named Forrest Carlson.
