Advanced Movie Production is a periodic class at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, first offered during the Spring 2008 semester as an English 299 "Special Topics" course. This is a follow-up course to Creative Movie Production, and will spend more time on how to use camera, lighting, and editing techniques to express visually the themes of a script. Students should already have completed screenplays they plan to produce for this class unless they intend to serve only as crew members on other students' projects. Recommended prerequisites are Creative Movie Production, Script Writing, Intro to Film, or other media production classes.

While occasional short critical papers may be assigned during the first half of the semester, there are no exams. Grading is based heavily upon active participation in the class movie projects.

Christopher Jacobs is the course's creator and first instructor. The student movie projects created during the Spring 2008 semester were screened for the general public at the Empire Arts Center on May 6, the night reserved for the final exam.
