The 2-Minute Movie Contest is a popular feature of the annual Fargo Film Festival. Emerging from the Uff-Da Style showcase held at the old Moose Lodge on Broadway and originated by Greg Carlson, John Lamb, and Matt Dreiling, the contest provides Fargo-Moorhead community moviemakers an opportunity to show their work without paying an entry fee or an admission fee.

Patterned after similar events at other film festivals, the Fargo 2-Minute Movie Contest was established and is still produced by Greg Carlson. On average, close to two-hundred people attend the showing each year. In 2009, the 2-Minute Movie Contest moved to a 9:15pm time slot on the big screen at the Fargo Theatre.
